Essay explains how to create an effective safety culture
A recent issue of EHS Today carries an essay by an author who recently attended the National Safety Congress meeting.
Headlined “We’re all in This Safety Thing Together,” author Dave Blanchard shares the story of the industrial manufacturer ThyssenKrupp NA, which has trained some 3,000 employees to become leaders in safety.
The essay makes a simple but important point: a company’s culture can be changed so that every employee, not just supervisors, takes safety seriously. Blanchard maintains that companywide buy-in is the best way to avoid the danger of complacency.
