Risk Class Code Reclassification

Risk Classifications

Classifications are based on the nature of your business and L&I assigns risk classifications at the time the L&I account number is created.

Washington law requires the Department of Labor & Industries to have a classification system and rating plan in order to provide fairness and to charge employers based on their potential for loss and to reflect the hazardous nature of each industry.

If you feel the nature of your business has changed and the current risk classifications are no longer applicable, our staff will review the current risk classification codes assigned. At this time, we will ask you to provide RS with complete job descriptions.

After analyzing your request, we will contact L&I on your behalf to review the assignment which might include reclassification.
