Retail workers are increasingly injury-prone

It might seem that retail jobs are relatively safe.

But the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports findings that bear watching.

Retail was the only industry with an uptick in employee injuries in 2018 compared to the previous year, the BLS reports. About 3.5 of every 100 retail workers that year suffered injuries typically resulting from falls from ladders, slips on floors and trips over boxes and equipment. That same year, the number of Texas retail workers who suffered job-related illnesses or injuries exceeded similar statistics for construction, transportation and manufacturing workers combined, the BLS reported.
