RS is working on a safety app for Spanish speakers

Retail Services currently offers the public two free safety-related apps that cover basic instruction including one geared specifically for employees working in auto repairs and service.

By fall of this year, RS plans to add a Spanish-language version of the SAFEME Essentials app. All the apps are being produced through grants authorized by Labor & Industries.

A recent issue of Safety and Health magazine identified a shortage of Spanish-language resources in training materials. The SAFEME apps have been used in every U.S. state and internationally since being introduced three years ago.

“Because of the success of SAFEME, we thought it would be a good idea to expose it to our growing Hispanic population,” said Rick Means, Washington Retail’s Safety Specialist.

When ready, RS plans to further promote SAFEME Spanish on YouTube and radio in the Yakima area.
