Workplace assaults on the rise
Nonfatal work-related assaults are on the rise, The National Safety Council reports.
In 2017, assaults resulted in 18,400 injuries and illnesses involving days away from work and 458 fatalities. The median number of days out of work was 5 as a result of attacks by categories such as shooting, stabbing, hitting, kicking and strangulation. The leading industries for such attacks are services, education and health services and social assistance jobs.
