L&I issues detailed workplace directions for pandemic

Labor & Industries has issued a detailed, nine-page directive to help essential companies understand how to conduct business during Gov. Jay Inslee’s Stay Home Stay Healthy order.

Labor & Industries does not enforce the Governor’s Order directly. Under existing rules, employers are required to protect workers from biological hazards and implement programs to address known hazards in the workplace.

Please review your operations to make sure you are following social spacing guidelines and providing protective equipment to your employees that are engaged with the public. Also, make sure you are performing regular cleaning of commonly touched surfaces.

Washington Retail urges all employers to review the document to understand the expectations and to take necessary steps to be in compliance with L&I’s requirements and avoid the potential for enforcement action.
