Refund check for the 2016-17 Retro year coming

By Rose Gundersen, VP of Operations & Retail Services

Congratulations to the 2016-2017 Retail and Auto Retro Groups. It’s another great refund year.

Retro members continue to make workplace safety a priority. Their efforts have resulted in improved injury records which lowered premiums. The refund is the bonus, but the larger benefit is the reduction in rates to our members who continue to keep their employees safe and provide light duty.

In the last Retro Advisory Committee meeting, L&I provided data showing that retailers’ experience factors are lower on the average than those who do not participate in Retro. This percentage difference has grown from the 10.4% in 2014 to 14.8% in 2019 in the retail industry.

The Retail Services (RS) team and our members work diligently every day to tackle each medical or indemnity claim, along with complex legal issues. Their efforts are very much appreciated by the Claims Management team at RS. The team works tirelessly to impact our members’ bottom line.

With all the uncertainties around us, you can always count on our commitment to keep our members’ best interests a priority.

Keep an eye out for your refund; it’s coming soon.
