Report: OSHA safety regulations remain in full force during COVID-19
The online EHS Today publication has a story reporting that regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration remain in effect during the COVID-19 pandemic.
OSHA recently released an update version of its guidance on protecting workplaces, called Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19. Developed in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), it contains recommendations regarding safe work practices and personal protective equipment based on different levels of exposure and other risk factors.
The publication reports that OSHA’s safety guidance is not a legal obligation, but it raises questions about how its regulations will be enforced in the future based upon actions that employers take during the pandemic.
