Here’s a fact many Washington State employers probably know.
For the 10th consecutive year, Washington led the nation in the highest workers’ compensation benefit costs per covered worker, according to an annual report by the National Academy of Social Insurance (NASI). The finding is from 2017 data.
Washington also had the highest cost increase in covered wages of more than 30% from 2013 to 2017. NASI notes the state’s minimum wage increases and relatively high overall wages are among the reasons.
